ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The prudence of the learned academics and the honorable founders most appreciably decided to provide MATHEMATICS a premier position in the arena of The Bhawanipur Education Society College, Kolkata in 1966, the very year it was founded. And as soon as 'The Department of Mathematics' sprang up its tireless uncompromising endeavors to establish a distinguished place started. Thus it stands a very accomplished department of the day of the BESC. The department offers two courses: (1) a specialized advanced level course known as Mathematics Honours course and (2) Mathematics General course both of which follow the curriculum of the University of Calcutta. The syllabi of both the courses are a fine blend of pure and applied mathematics. At present the seats capacity of the First Year Honours Course is 50 (fifty).
During the three years of undergraduate studies, the students acquire training in advanced logical analysis and skills in problem solving technique which inculcate in them the spirit of refined quantitative, aptitude and confidence which enable them, in future, to choose a broad spectrum of rewarding career from industry or academics.
The Department has seven members in the Faculty who take personal care and responsibilities for the performances of the students. Each of the members of the Faculty is very sincere in term of improvement of the methods of imparting quality education with advanced pedagogic skills. The regular classes are complemented by remedial classes, tutorials and mock tests.
Out of the regular academic affairs, the department organizes national level seminars, invites eminent personalities to deliver talks and arrange workshops for the upliftment of the students and to encourage the advanced learners (Events section may please be seen to know more about such events held in recent past).
